Reviewing changes that occur to curriculum and to standards as a result of the national movement toward common core standards is going to be a challenge. This page will contain links that relate to these changes.
Kentucky accounced the adoption of the common core standards in Math and Reading/Language Arts in a joint press release made by the Kentucky Board of Education, the Council on Postsecondary Education and the Education Professional Standards Board on February 10, 2010. According to the press release, teachers will provide instruction related to the standards in the fall of 2011; and students will be assessed on the Common Core Standards beginning in the spring of 2012.
The English/Language Arts draft and the Mathematics draft linked from the Kentucky Press Release have been scanned for several key words to locate technology references in the documents. These documents were initially scanned for planning purposes to begin the planning process to change the alignment of resources located in the Technology for Classrooms of Kentucky learning object repository located on the KATE website.
