TrackStar is a tool for teachers to create Tracks or use one of the hundreds of thousands already made by other educators. Teachers can search the database by subject, grade, or theme and standard for a quick and easy activity. To create a Track, simply collect Web sites, enter them into TrackStar, add annotations for your students, and you have an interactive, online lesson called a Track.
ThinkTank and NoteStar
Think Tank is designed to help students (grades 3-8) develop a Research Organizer (a list of topics and subtopics) for reports and projects. Based on the subject assigned, the students can refine it by choosing from a variety of suggestions and by using a random subtopic generator. This helps students learn how to refine a subject so that it is more manageable for Internet research. Think Tank can be used alone or with another ALTEC product, NoteStar. Once students have developed their topics, they may export their topics to NoteStar.
NoteStar is an Internet utility to assist in the preparation of research papers. Teachers and students can set up research projects with topics and sub-topics. Students may then take advantage of NoteStar's many features to collect and organize their notes and prepare their bibliography page.
Project Poster and Worksheet Wizard
Project Poster allows students to make online school projects and short reports quickly and easily. Students can include one image (.gif or .jpg format), four links to other Web pages, and a report of up to 3,500 characters. These posters are available to the public on the Internet after they have been reviewed. The reports MUST relate to a school subject and the teacher must register so his/her students can use Project Poster. The teacher registers and creates classes. A class code is created for each class. The students fill in requested information in their student section. Teachers can view all his/her students’ posters when managing classes. A student can view his/her own posters by typing the Poster ID# in the View My Poster section.
Web Worksheet Wizard is a web-based utility that will allow teachers to create a lesson, worksheet, or class page and publish it on the World Wide Web. Web Worksheet Wizard is for teachers only; students can create their own Web pages using the student tool called Project Poster. Teachers can create web pages, webquests or other instructional webpages that include text, images, hyperlinks to other sites and email links.
